MEET VERNA FELDER

For more than two decades, Verna Felder has worked in Detroit Public Schools as a Teacher, Mentor, Media Specialist, and Communications Director. Verna has a Master of Science degree in Strategic Communication Leadership and an undergraduate degree in Organizational Management. Her passion for children, literacy, and community made her a recipient of The President Obama Certificate of Tribute for Literacy and a Spirit of Detroit Award.
Through trial, error, and twenty years serving inner-city families, Verna acquired skills and best practices that made her a leader in the field of Public Relations, Community Outreach, and Cultural Competence for urban schools. During the Coronavirus pandemic stay home order of 2020 Verna used this time to compile her experience into a comprehensive communications toolkit that offers cultural competence best practices, strategies, templates, and resources for organizations, educators, and anyone passionate about serving their urban community. Currently,
Verna has completed a Family Engagement Certificate from Harvard University and is one of the leading Education experts on urban family engagement!
